Purpose of the Position

The accountant position aims to ensure the accurate recording, reporting, and analysis of financial transactions for an organisation. This role involves managing monetary records, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing insights that support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded, maintain our financial data in real-time, and assist in generating reports to ensure financial compliance and decision-making. This role will also handle payroll management and ensure timely payment to employees. 

Organisational Unit Function

  • Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in cloud-based accounting software (preferably Zoho Book). 
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and summaries for management and regulatory agencies. 
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and analyse variances to ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payments, and collections. 
  • Payroll: Oversee payroll processing, including calculating salaries, deductions, bonuses, and taxes, ensuring timely payment of wages. 
  • Handle payments: Handle employee reimbursements and vendor payments in compliance with company policies. 
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and addressing audit inquiries. 
  • Financial Analysis: Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. 
  • Process Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes and procedures. 
  • Filing and Documentation: Setting up and maintaining a proper filing system for all financial documentation.

Selection Criteria

As an experienced accountant with a strong background in financial management and reporting, you excel in maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and analysing financial data.

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficiency in using cloud-based accounting software like Zoho Books or QuickBooks.

  • Understanding of Indian tax laws, GST, TDS, and other financial regulations.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and stakeholders.
